Purpose of Job

Responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the first mortgage and home equity servicing program. Leverages industry experience and knowledge of the servicing landscape to lead the oversight of third party sub servicing for Home Equity Loans and Mortgage products as well as lead the HELOC Performing servicing, which is performed at USAA. Maintains a robust and continuous monitoring program for the purpose of assuring that regulatory and investor compliance procedures are operating effectively. Accountable for all aspects of the program including data integrity, training, reporting and promoting organizational awareness.

Job Requirements

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled
  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities
  • Oversees mortgage and home equity servicing operations and quality assurance framework.  Ensures USAA Federal Savings Bank mortgage servicing is compliant with applicable regulatory, investor and state law guidelines
  • Executes, through direct reports and extended team (levels and indirect staff) strategy and provides feedback up to senior leadership as to its success and what changes to that strategy need to be adjusted
  • Oversees and manages the 3rd party servicing relationship to ensure service level standards are met
  • Accountable for delivering mortgage servicing strategy, best-in-class member experience, and for improving departmental workflow and improving efficiency for first mortgage and home equity servicing experience
  • Trains and develops subordinate leaders in relevant technical, facilitation, compliance and regulatory, and industry related policies, procedures and issues
  • Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree

Minimum Experience:

  • 10 years experience in first mortgage and/or home equity servicing, managing various mortgage servicing areas within a financial services organization
  • 4 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required
  • Knowledge of federal laws, rules, and regulations to include:  HMDA, TILA/REG Z, RESPA, FDPA, Reg B, SCRA
  • Extensive mortgage servicing vendor management, client/vendor relations, and oversight
  • In-depth knowledge of current servicing environment and industry, with a strong mortgage servicing regulatory/compliance background
  • Experience leading teams and individuals through business transformation and change management efforts. Experience managing work and influencing business outcomes in a matrix managed work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in first mortgage and/or home equity servicing with a top-tier mortgage lender, or similar experience in a sub-servicing environment managing various mortgage servicing areas or servicing in a master servicing operations capacity
  • Mortgage servicing vendor management, client/vendor relations, and oversight experience
  • Executive level business acumen in the areas of real estate mortgage servicing operations, risk, compliance, industry practices and emerging trends
  • Previous exposure to agency servicing requirements and regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of current servicing environment and industry, with a strong mortgage servicing regulatory/compliance background
  • Experience leading teams and individuals through business transformation and change management effort
  • Experience with governance, risk management, and compliance tools

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $135,200 – $243,500

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executives only representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based
