This is a highly responsible and technical position involving the review and analysis of the utility billing system within the mandatory deadlines including the auditing of reports, utility account maintenance, and communication with internal and external customers. Work includes receiving and processing daily audits of reports related to the utility billing system; explaining departmental policy, pertinent rules and regulations, and routine information to internal customers including rates, types of service, and answering inquires; preparing and processing utility account adjustments; operating computers to access or input customer work orders; adjusting customer electronic records as needed; preparing and processing work orders and transfer forms; posting, checking or verifying data and correcting inaccuracies; and performing related work as assigned. Employees in this position are expected to be able to perform all work tasks and comply with any work schedules, attendance or duty requirements which may be established by City or department rules, or applicable union contracts. Work is reviewed through observation, conversation, and analysis of reports.

Salary: $21.03 – $32.05 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Have a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have at least one year of experience in the customer service industry.
  • Have good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database entry to produce required documents and reports.
  • Be able to perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Be able to use online resources for research.

Desirable Qualifications.Preferred applicants:

  • Have some experience in accounting, account maintenance and/or account analysis.
