Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountantr with Public Accounting experience to join our fast-paced and rapidly growing CPA firm located in St Petersburg. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the firm’s overall financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintain Accurate Financial Records: Handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, and reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

2. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, track payments, and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely and accurate payment and collection. Coordinate with clients and vendors to resolve any discrepancies.

3. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly to ensure accurate record-keeping and identify any discrepancies or irregularities.

4. Payroll Processing: Calculate and process employee payroll, including deductions, taxes, and benefits. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws.

5. Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize expenses, ensuring proper allocation to relevant accounts and projects. Provide support for expense reporting and analysis.

6. Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and summaries for management, clients, and regulatory purposes. Provide accurate and timely financial data to support decision-making.

7. Compliance and Regulations: Stay up-to-date with relevant tax laws, accounting principles, and industry regulations. Ensure that all financial activities are conducted in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.

8. Data Entry and Record-Keeping: Input financial data into accounting software accurately and efficiently. Maintain organized and well-documented financial records for easy retrieval and reference.

9. Assist in Audit Preparation: Prepare documentation and provide necessary support during internal and external audits.

10. Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the finance team, CPAs, and clients to ensure accurate and timely financial data exchange and resolution of any financial discrepancies.

11. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements within the bookkeeping function. Propose and implement improvements as needed.

Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus.

– Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced environment or CPA firm setting.

– Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks desktop, Accounting CS, QuickBooks online) and Microsoft Office suite.

– Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.

– Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

– Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

– Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

– Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

– High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
