Lead IT Systems Engineer
ITonDemand, a division of eResources LLC, is seeking a seasoned Lead IT Systems Engineer to join and guide our Managed Services Support team. The ideal candidate brings over a decade of progressive experience in IT systems engineering and customer-focused technical service, having advanced through multiple roles – from frontline support to engineering leadership.
This position requires deep technical expertise, strong communication and leadership skills, and hands-on experience managing both systems and people. The Lead IT Systems Engineer will oversee a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring exceptional client service delivery, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across our managed environments.
The position is fully remote, with occasional travel to client sites (primarily located in FL, MI, TN, VA, and WA).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of systems engineers and technical support professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of client IT infrastructures, ensuring stability, scalability, and security
- Serve as the final escalation point for complex technical issues, guiding resolution and knowledge sharing across the team
- Architect, administer, and migrate environments within Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online, including permissions, integrations, and governance
- Partner with leadership to define standards, procedures, and best practices across managed services
- Drive process improvements in system monitoring, patch management, documentation, and automation
- Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to develop team KPIs, track performance, and ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Operate as a technical advisor and project lead for key client initiatives and technology roadmaps
- Maintain up-to-date task management and service documentation within tracking systems
Required Technical Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or team management capacity
- Proven ability to develop and mentor technical teams, manage workloads, and guide professional development
- Expert-level experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop OS, Active Directory, Virtualization (Hyper-V/VMWare), and Group Policy
- Strong SharePoint, Teams, Entra, Exchange Online and other Microsoft 365 application administration, including, site design, security, migrations, and automation with PowerShell or Power Automate
- 5+ years designing and troubleshooting complex network architectures (LAN//VLAN/WAN/VPN/Firewall/Routing)
- 5+ years in an MSP environment, supporting multiple clients and varied technical stacks
- Familiarity with vulnerability reporting, management, and mitigation
- Familiarity with endpoint detection and response
- Familiarity with SaaS security
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an aptitude for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Microsoft certifications such as MCP, MCSA, or Microsoft 365/SharePoint Administrator
- CompTIA or Apple certifications (A+, Network+, Security+, ACP)
- Experience with Mac OS X integration in Windows-based networks
- Experience developing and tracking engineering KPIs and SLAs
Other Requirements
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance meeting state requirements
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client onsite support or project implementation
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
