The System Engineer frequently takes a lead role in projects and client communications, shaping the client’s experience with both Client and the implemented technology solutions. Working closely with clients, the System Engineer identifies opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and assists in planning future development. Under the supervision of an assigned System Architect, the System Engineer supports full lifecycle management of client technologies and serves as an escalation point for high-priority issues, particularly those related to server and domain-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and provide technical support for client networks, including:
- Computers
- Servers
- Switches
- Routers
- Firewalls
- Other specialized network equipment
- Support Microsoft server solutions in both on-premise and cloud-based environments with varying levels of complexity, functionality, and uptime requirements
- Support server-based software solutions, including:
- Microsoft business product line
- Azure integrations
- Open, review, manage, resolve, and close support tickets
- Deliver services via onsite appointments or through remote system access, telephone, or online sessions
- Participate in technology delivery projects as a support engineer or project lead
- Collaborate within a team to promote knowledge sharing and idea exchange
- Assist management with the enhancement of products and services as needed
- Train end users on daily use of computers, servers, and other network resources
Required Education, Certifications & Experience
- At least one Microsoft Certification related to server or equivalent product/application
OR
- Associate degree or higher from an accredited college
Technical Experience
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Server Domain environments (Server 2016 or later)
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory (Server 2016 or later)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure / Entra environments and hybrid on-premise configurations
- Experience with Microsoft desktop operating systems in domain environments, including Windows 11 (24H2)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Business cloud services and applications
- Experience with Microsoft Office 2021 or later
- Strong workstation and network troubleshooting skills
- Ability to research and resolve issues using web resources and technical documentation
- Experience with firewalls, routers, switches, and advanced network topologies
- Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals
- Ability to perform physical tasks involving handling equipment, materials, and boxes
