Director of Finance
Position Overview:
The Director of Finance serves as a key strategic partner to the CFO, leading financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and operational decision support. This role combines strong financial modeling expertise with solid accounting knowledge and a focus on developing a high-performing finance team.
This leader will support multiple construction entities while helping strengthen systems, processes, and financial visibility across the organization.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
- Develop financial models for scenario planning and business cases
- Analyze operational and financial trends to identify risks and opportunities
- Deliver executive-level reporting and actionable insights
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Partner with Controllers to analyze job profitability and key cost drivers
- Support process standardization and cross-entity optimization
- Prepare variance analyses with clear explanations and recommendations
Leadership & Strategic Partnership
- Mentor and develop finance team members
- Build structured workflows and performance expectations
- Partner with operations leadership to translate field performance into financial insight
- Support KPI development, dashboards, and reporting visibility
- Collaborate with the CFO on systems improvements and financial infrastructure
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA and/or MBA preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including FP&A leadership
- Advanced financial modeling skills
- Experience with job costing, WIP, and project-based reporting preferred
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct, SQL Server, Power BI, and Alteryx a plus
- Proven experience developing and leading finance professionals
