Job Overview
The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering relationships between the organization and the community. This is a technical position that is responsible for researching, planning and implementing programs and initiatives that promote community involvement, enhance public awareness, and support the organization’s diversity initiatives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community service, possess strong leadership skills, and have experience in volunteer management and program development.
Duties
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies that align with organizational goals. This includes actively foster working relationships with key groups, civic leaders, influencers and individuals in the community.
- Promote the organization at a variety of culturally diverse community events to highlight programs and services. This includes support job fairs as a representative, conduct college campus visits and establish relationships with career centers, alumni groups and various organizations.
- Assist with developing and executing strategies to attain broader civic engagement and awareness in support of organizational goals.
- Promote and create awareness of organization’s business opportunities for women/minority owned businesses withing the community and direct businesses to appropriate resources.
- Define and track consistent data-driven diversity metrics and goals; analyze results and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Establish effective working relationships with internal departments and consults with appropriate representatives to support diversity enhancements and awareness.
- Manage volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision to ensure effective program delivery.
- Convey complex issues, events and concepts in succinct, easy-to-understand language in verbal and written formats.
- Collaborate with various departments and the community to share concerns and reactions; track concerns and resolutions; escalate issues when necessary.
- Monitor emerging technologies and methods related to community engagement; develop specific outreach strategies to reach diverse, and hard to reach populations who require assistance in connecting with organization’s services and programs.
- Oversee project management for various community outreach projects, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
- Utilize marketing techniques to enhance visibility of programs through social media management and other channels.
- Collect and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and inform future initiatives.
- Collaborate with local organizations to strengthen partnerships and expand outreach efforts.
Skills
- Considerable knowledge of: conducting effective outreach to diverse communities; modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; Business English, spelling, and grammar.
- Strong volunteer management skills with experience in supervising teams.
- Excellent public speaking abilities to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
- Proficient in program development and project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of marketing strategies, particularly in social media management.
- Experience in data collection and analysis for program evaluation purposes.
- Demonstrated skills in social work, leadership, fundraising, administrative tasks, recruiting, and teaching are highly desirable. This role is essential for driving community involvement and ensuring that the organization’s mission resonates within the local area. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be an advocate for positive change, working closely with various stakeholders to create impactful programs that benefit the community as a whole.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human relations, human resources, communications, public relations, public or business administration or related field and two (2) years of experience in diversity and inclusion, community outreach, urban planning or similar experience. OR
- An equivalent combination of education (not less than possession of a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job related competencies noted above.
- Florida driver’s license required.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: From $38.50 per hour
