Position Description
TARGET ENTRY SALARY: $71,912 – $75,507 DOQ
Under administrative direction, the Athletic Field Manager coordinates, supervises, and provides management for the general maintenance programs for all City’s athletic facilities and related areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions: – Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Plans, coordinates, and supervises the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled employees in renovating, cleaning, maintaining, and beautifying the City’s athletic facilities, properties and grounds; coordinates communication between recreation programming administration and athletic field staff.
- Coordinates, facilitates, and monitors contracts and contractors in providing similar services; ensures quality and timely care, maintenance, and management.
- Plans and supervises the scheduling, use, maintenance, and repair of athletic facilities and equipment; collaborates with recreation programming to organize field usages, closures, and events
- Oversees, coordinates, and supervises the purchasing of equipment with fleet services; identifies equipment needs, outlines necessary purchases, and ensures all equipment and material needs are met within budgetary guidelines.
- Participates in and oversees the development of new athletic facilities; evaluates redevelopment strategies or potential renovation of existing facilities and site equipment.
- Meets, engages, and works with citizens to handle complaints; explains, clarifies, and communicates City ordinances, policies, and procedures to citizens to determine City responsibility for maintenance activities.
- Requisitions and controls use of supplies and materials; tracks overall inventory to ensure proper use of equipment and materials.
- Confers with City staff and interested citizens regarding maintenance activities, and facility problems.
- Serves as a primary liaison with various user groups and organizations; establishes good working relationships and maintains strong communication; consistently collaborates to effectively promote City goals and objectives.
- Monitors and keeps records, prepares reports, develops budgets, and performs other administrative duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver’s license is required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or other related field PLUS two (2) years of full time paid experience in athletic field, parks, and recreation maintenance, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
