Senior Data Engineer
Overview
As a Senior Data Engineer supporting a utility client, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise data systems that power analytics, reporting, and strategic decision-making. With 8 years of experience, you’ll bring deep technical expertise and leadership to complex data initiatives, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing data infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments. Experience with SAP data integration and analytics is a key component of this role.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Engineering
- Architect and implement robust data pipelines, models, and ingestion frameworks to support advanced analytics and machine learning.
- Design and maintain scalable data infrastructure using cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Integrate SAP data sources into enterprise data platforms for reporting and analytics.
- Ensure data integrity, reliability, and performance across systems and applications.
- Lead efforts to reduce data redundancy and promote single sources of truth through effective data modeling and integration.
Project Leadership & Technical Oversight
- Serve as a technical lead on cross-functional data projects, guiding design decisions and ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Oversee database upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning activities.
- Develop and enforce standards for data governance, security, and lifecycle management.
Mentorship & Thought Leadership
- Mentor junior data engineers and analysts, providing guidance on best practices and technical development.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies to enhance data capabilities.
- Create and deliver training materials and documentation to support team development and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6-8+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or related roles.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or R.
- Expertise in relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB).
- Strong experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and tools (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
- Experience integrating and analyzing data from SAP systems (e.g., SAP HANA, SAP BW, SAP ECC).
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor team members.
Preferred
- Experience in the utility industry or similar regulated environments.
- Familiarity with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks.
- Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and audit practices.

Pay: $60.00 – $75.00 per hour
