Eriksson Software is seeking a technical writer to join our team. We are a Tampa-based structural engineering software development company with a specialization in plant-cast precast/prestressed concrete design and detailing. We develop, license, and support applications for the commercial, highway bridge, buried, and industrial structures markets. In recent years, we have greatly expanded our support of BIM-based workflows. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves technology and loves to write about it.
At Eriksson Software, we are a passionate team of engineers and innovators dedicated to building the tools and systems that move precast/prestressed concrete design and fabrication forward. That software only helps people if they can understand it — which is where you come in. You’ll work directly with our developers and engineers to create clear and well-written documentation for new products and features. If this resonates with you, we’d really like to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Write and maintain user guides, datasheets, and release notes for Eriksson Software products
- Sit down with developers and engineers to learn new features before they ship, then translate them into plain-English instructions
- Keep existing documentation accurate as the software changes
- Continuously build our knowledge base to facilitate users finding answers on their own
- Work with tech support and QA/QC to spot the questions users ask most
- Help maintain and update our website, including product pages and datasheets
- Develop training materials
Qualifications
Required:
- Passion for understanding and learning technical concepts
- Solid knowledge of science, math and technology
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Strong AI skills
Preferred:
- Experience documenting software or engineering products
- Familiarity with documentation tools such as Markdown or help-authoring platforms
- Experience writing API or developer-facing documentation
- Experience with website development (HTML/CSS, CMS platforms, or website builders)
Personal Traits:
- Clarity — you can take something complicated and make it make sense
- Curiosity — you want to understand how the software actually works, not just describe it
- Reliability — you hit deadlines without someone hovering over you
