Position Summary
DTSI is seeking a TAPIT Support Specialist to provide non-counseling Transition Assistance Program (TAP) and Information Technology (IT) support services to the MilitaryFamily Readiness Center (M&FRC) at MacDill Air Force Base. This is a blended administrative, data-entry, and commercial IT support role supporting the M&FRC’s mission to serve transitioning Airmen and their families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
TAP Administration
- Perform timely, accurate data entry of congressionally mandated TAP information into AFFIRST and locally developed systems (e.g., MS Teams, SharePoint).
- Maintain data quality controls sufficient to meet SS-1 thresholds (90% completed within one business day; 100% no later than three business days).
TAP Support Services
- Support TAP classes, including check-ins, room set-up/break-down, laptop distribution, facilitator equipment support, roster preparation, and no-show tracking.
- Update Air Force Portal’s Virtual Out-Processing (vMPF); respond to TAP emails via DODTAP and/or AFFIRST; schedule customers for classes and disseminate TAP-related correspondence.
- Complete customer record checks prior to M&FRC trainings, Pre-Separation Counseling, Transition GPS Workshop, and Capstone.
IT Support Services
- Support commercial and AF Network laptops, including software installation/updates, virus scans, Wi-Fi connectivity, hardware troubleshooting, inventory accountability, and warranty tracking; submit tickets to appropriate AF channels for issues outside contractor administrative rights.
- Maintain commercial and AF Network printers, including toner replacement, printer mapping, error code resolution, and toner inventory.
- Administer commercial Wi-Fi systems and mobile hotspot equipment.
- Maintain audio/video, projector, and conference/classroom systems in ready-to-use condition.
- Support MS Teams, shared drives, drive mapping, and access permissions; maintain working familiarity with AF unclassified network/security structure.
- Maintain IT supplies/equipment inventory and provide reorder and upgrade recommendations to the Flight Chief.
Administrative Services
- Provide customer support to internal and external personnel, including phone coverage, email response, and correspondence drafting, as directed by the Flight Chief or TAP CCE.
- Deliver training to M&FRC staff on office equipment and software applications as requested.
Records Management
- Maintain records in accordance with AFI 33-322 (Records Management Program), the Privacy Act Program (AFI 33-332), and FOIA requirements; follow AFRIMS disposition schedules.
- Safeguard all Government records (paper and electronic) and make them available for M&FRC POC review upon request.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience in administrative, data entry, and/or IT support duties consistent with the scope above.
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), including the ability to train others on their use.
- Ability to troubleshoot standard Microsoft Windows issues (printer mapping, cloud permissions, network access, file management).
- Hands-on ability to set up, troubleshoot, and support MS Teams for virtual meetings and training.
- Working knowledge of Air Force IT troubleshooting/escalation procedures, including generating work orders for issues outside the position’s administrative rights.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support customer needs involving commercial laptops and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and learn new systems efficiently.
- Strong customer service skills; comfortable working with internal and external customers in a professional setting.
- Familiarity with military protocol, structure, and chain of command.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a commercial Wi-Fi network, including account setup, access points, coverage, and firmware/software updates.
- English language proficiency sufficient to effectively communicate with customers and staff, in person and by telephone.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with or knowledge of a MilitaryFamily Readiness Center (M&FRC) or similar military support program.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access.
Security Requirements
- Must successfully complete a National Agency Check (NAC) via SF-85P (Public Trust) prior to or upon beginning work.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must complete Total Force Awareness Training (TFAT) prior to accessing AF Network computers.
- Must maintain training/certification on safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Work Environment
This position works primarily in an office environment at the M&FRC (Bldg 38, MacDill AFB) with periodic travel to the M&FRC off-site office in Ruskin, FL. The role requires routine use of a government-furnished computer, phone, and standard office equipment, and occasional light lifting of IT/AV equipment (laptops, projectors, printers).
