SUMMARY: The Product Owner is responsible for delivering value to the OPIE market by identifying development needs and prioritizing work for the Scrum team. This role requires commitment to the Scrum team as well as active engagement with the market and/or customer. The role requires collaboration with Business Owners, customer facing stakeholders, and a cross functional technical team. The role requires agile software processes, data-driven development, and responsible experimentation. The role requires working in cross-functional teams and identifying the critical questions first, delivering robust answers quickly and letting those results guide the next set of questions. With strong interpersonal skills and happy working in a team environment. Understand OPIE and its competitors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
People:
- COACHES in lean-agile, Kanban/Scrum, RAD and other operational excellence framework with the development team
- Defines Acceptance Criteria for user stories in collaboration with the team
- Describes Business Value and priority during Sprint Planning
- Accepts or rejects sprint deliverables in Sprint Review and throughout sprint
- Attends daily standups to understand team progress and answer questions for the development team
- Demos delivered Working Software Increments to commercial teams and Business Owners
- Commits to continuous improvement with the team through a process of Sprint Retros and focusing on improvement
Process:
- OWNS the Product Backlog
- Prioritizes the product/project backlog according to business value and technical needs
- Maintains the product backlog with features, improvements, and requests
- Refines the backlog daily through a process that includes talking with commercial stakeholders
- Writes user stories that describe business needs, educational value, and technical acceptance criteria
- Refines the backlog with the Scrum team including recording priority and size estimations for backlog items
- Works with the Scrum team to break down epics and large stories into deliverable increments
- COLLABORATES to unite the commercial needs and development priorities
- Collaborates with the Business Owners, market/customers, and/or commercial teams to define development priorities
- Communicates with the Scrum team throughout the sprint to provide clarification and information as needed
- Communicates with the commercial teams (Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, Product Training) to understand product uses and needs
- ROADMAPS to determine product release dates
- Coordinates with Business Owners to determine product roadmap and critical release dates for delivering business value
- Guides release planning to ensure value is being delivered
- Monitors backlog to estimate release dates for features and improvements
- Communicates release to customer facing teams
- Plans to deliver a valuable increment each iteration
Technology/Domain:
- Learn the existing technology and domain that the team works with on a daily basis to be better engaged in important team discussions
- Ensure there is a process to share knowledge in order to develop and maintain a well-rounded cross functional team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related discipline preferred; or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of collaboration tools and agile methodologies. JIRA preferred.
- Good knowledge of Identity Management, Directory Services (LDAP, AD), corporate networks, and SaaS security
- Knowledge of all phases of SDLC
- Working knowledge of collaboration tools and agile methodologies
- Exposure to Enterprise Architecture artifacts and philosophy
- Certificates, licenses, and registrations required: certified product owner preferred
- Computer skills required: ERP Software; Contract Management Systems; Development Software; Human Resource Systems; Inventory Software; Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to exercise due diligence when assessing operations issues and proposing solutions leveraging technology and processes
- Ability to look at the big picture, speculate and conceptualize outcomes and identify trends

Pay: $60,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
