SCHEDULE/HOURS: Monday- Friday; 8:30 AM -4:30 PM (40 hours/week)

This position is responsible for:

Developing, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive volunteer engagement strategy that strengthens volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, recognition, and community involvement across all Salvation Army locations within the Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for Golden, providing administration, configuration, troubleshooting, user support, reporting, and training; maintain and regularly audit volunteer opportunities, onboarding workflows, records, and processes.
  • Implement and monitor divisional volunteer engagement strategies that align with Territorial and National priorities.
  • Monitor volunteer participation, engagement, and retention and recommend improvement; ensure volunteers receive orientation, training, supervision, and ongoing support.
  • Train and support local Volunteer Coordinators, Development Departments, Area Commanders, Corps Officers, and program leadership; assist field locations in establishing and evaluating volunteer programs.
  • Provide guidance in onboarding, screening, orientation, supervision, conflict resolution, policy compliance, and volunteer dismissal procedures; develop and update volunteer training materials, toolkits, resources, and operational guidelines
  • Develop volunteer partnerships that increase community engagement; cultivate relationships with community organizations, schools, civic groups, and faith-based organizations.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications to promote volunteer opportunities.
  • Assist with Angel Tree, Red Kettle Campaign, Stuff the Bus, Food Drives, Community Meals, Thanksgiving Distribution, Christmas Assistance Programs, and Disaster Response Operations

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Travel extensively throughout the Division.
  • Travel frequently throughout the Division using personal transportation.
  • Frequent travel with overnight stays to accomplish the responsibilities of the position.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, sit, and drive for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials associated with volunteer events.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field AND three years of progressively responsible experience in volunteer engagement, volunteer program management, community relations, or nonprofit administration.
  • OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
