The ideal candidate pairs technical accounting expertise with a collaborative mindset, has great attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Reconciliations
- Own and execute the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle for multiple legal entities across assigned regions, ensuring strict adherence to close calendar deadlines.
- Prepare and review complex balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts, accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and owner equity accounts.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner, escalating material variances with root-cause analysis and recommended corrective action.
- Maintain and continuously improve the month-end close checklist, identifying opportunities to compress the close timeline without compromising accuracy.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely management reporting packages including consolidated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements for executive and ownership review.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting templates and standardized schedules to improve consistency and comparability across the portfolio.
Flux Analysis & Variance Reporting
- Conduct monthly flux analysis across income statement and balance sheet accounts, providing meaningful, narrative-driven explanations of period-over-period and budget-versus-actual variances.
- Identify anomalies, trends, and risks within financial data; proactively communicate findings to the Director of Finance with supporting analysis and recommended actions.
- Develop automated flux reporting tools within the ERP and reporting systems to streamline variance commentary and reduce manual preparation time.
Internal Controls & Audit Support
- Ensure all accounting activities are executed in accordance with internal controls policies, company accounting policies, and applicable accounting standards (US GAAP / IFRS).
- Support external audit processes by preparing requested schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation with minimal lead time.
- Identify and communicate control gaps or process weaknesses to management, recommending remediation plans.
