Position Overview
Genesis Systems is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, manage key accounting activities, and provide reliable financial reporting to support business decisions. This role works closely with finance, operations, and leadership to strengthen accounting processes, track manufacturing costs, and ensure timely completion of financial close activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage financial close activities: Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Prepare financial reporting: Produce financial statements, explain significant account fluctuations, and support budget-to-actual analysis and management reporting.
- Maintain inventory and cost accounting: Partner with operations to reconcile inventory, review material and production costs, analyze cost variances, and account for work in process and finished goods.
- Support daily accounting operations: Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll entries, fixed assets, and prepaid expenses for accuracy and proper classification.
- Support cash planning and forecasting: Monitor cash activity, track outstanding receivables and payment obligations, and assist with budgets and financial forecasts.
- Coordinate audit and tax support: Prepare schedules and documentation for external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals, and help resolve accounting questions.
- Strengthen controls and processes: Maintain supporting documentation, identify discrepancies, improve accounting workflows, and support improvements to accounting and ERP systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on responsibility for financial close and account reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with manufacturing, inventory, or cost accounting is preferred.
- Proficiency with accounting or ERP software and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines while handling confidential financial information.
- CPA designation or progress toward certification is preferred but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,000.00 – $82,500.00 per year
