This is responsible administrative and technical work in the support of the City’s Payroll division and other Finance Department functions. Work involves administration of automated and manual payroll accounting functions with all City departments, including responsibility for review and processing all employee payroll checks, maintaining accurate municipal records of individual employee payroll and time activities, accurate and proper application of Federal regulations, handling County court requests, application of City procedures/guidelines governing employee payroll and benefits processing, and other accounting and administrative functions, as assigned. An employee in this class acts as the official custodian of municipal payroll records and is subject to and responds to subpoenas for depositions and court testimony relating to payroll matters.
Salary: $58,046 – $91,369

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
· Possess valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
· Have some experience in professional payroll processing utilizing automated, integrated human resources/payroll/financial information systems.
· Have excellent computer skills.
· Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
· Be able to perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
· Be able to meet essential processing deadlines with accuracy.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
· Possess a valid Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in accounting or finance.
· Have some experience in maintaining business records in an automated financial data processing environment.
