Company Overview
Our client, a non-profit organization, is seeking an Accountant to join their growing team. The Accountant has impressive month-end close, hands-on work experience, and is excited to develop their skills in accounting in a team-collaborative Accounting department.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$55k – $70k
Position Overview:
The Accountant will be the primary assistant to the Accounting department, reporting directly to the Controller. This is an incredible opportunity for an Accountant professional to be immersed in month-end close activities. The ideal Accountant candidate will have working month-end close experience, be forward-thinking, and be a team player committed to meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities of the Accountant:
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly financial statements including revenue recognition, fixed assets, and lease accounting
- Maintain and update supporting schedules in accordance with the financial statements
- Prepare cash flow/forecast and assist the Senior Accountant in cash flow management
- Review bank deposits, keep accurate daily cash ledgers, and reconcile bank accounts monthly
- Review accounts payable transactions to ensure compliance with accounting and contract and grant requirements
- Prepare and process journal entries, accruals, and deferred revenue-related entries
- Ensure all federal, state, unemployment, and other taxes stay compliant and paid timely
Qualifications of the Accountant:
- 1 – 2+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, and formulas)
- Experience with SAGE Intacct is a plus
- Eager to learn and possesses strong communication skills
- Organized and efficient – is deadline-driven
- Upbeat attitude and willing to assist others
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is required
