GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for data entry, clerical support duties, and assisting the Accounting Director in the day-to-day coordination and operation of the department. PRINCIPLE DUTIES: Essential Job Duties:
Essential Job Duties:
1. Compiles and inputs data into the computer for resident and Health Center billing.
2. Inputs data into the computer for Medicare Part A and B claims.
3. Records and prepares resident, Health Center, and miscellaneous deposits.
4. Reviews and summarizes time cards. Inputs time card information into the computer.
5. Reviews accounts payable invoices for accuracy.
6. Inputs accounts payable into the computer and generates accounts payable checks.
Other Duties:
1. Runs necessary reports. Maintains backup and support documents.
2. Maintains ledgers and storage binders in an orderly fashion.
3. Maintains computer disks.
4. Files paperwork.
5. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
6. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associates degree with knowledge of accounting and office machines.
2. Data entry or personal computer experience necessary.
3. Accounting experience helpful; will train.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day; must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently; may be exposed to a constant noise level due to the printers located in the office.
