Gerdau is currently seeking an AP Supervisor for its Tampa, Florida corporate office location.

This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable functions within the company including the direct supervision of fifteen full time Accounts Payable Specialists.  Works in close coordination and cooperation with all levels of corporate and divisional management, operating unit personnel, and external auditors.

The AP Supervisor position supervises Specialists and Processors for corporate, downstream, disbursements, tier 1 and GLN & GSN processing. This includes the entry of invoices into AP systems, the processing of check and ACH runs in both US and Canadian dollars for all locations and the inquiry support desk function (i.e. Tier 1). This position oversees maintenance of the vendor master file (over 30,000 vendors) and completes the 1099 reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Delegate work assignments and provide supervision to the team performing invoice entry, invoice interfaces, vendor setup & maintenance, inquiry support and payment processing.
  • Assist location personnel with their accounts payable questions and vendor issues.
  • Ensure AP team members meet job expectations including quality and productivity standards.
  • Determine root cause of accounts payable errors.
  • Proactively prevent future errors through employee training and coaching, suggesting process improvements and documentation changes.
  • Track and present quality and productivity metrics and plans to management.
  • Maintain a focus on quality customer service to the operating units and solicit customer feedback to improve service.  Respond promptly to customer needs and request.
  • Assist Accounts Payable Manager in goal and objective setting for the department.
  • Assist in the development and troubleshooting system issues.
  • Ensure integrity of AP processes and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance through audit, review, process documentation and ongoing end user training.
  • Acts as liaison between corporate / location accounting, Purchasing, location personnel and auditors for accounting and AP issue resolution.
  • Train employees and encourage ongoing training, development and growth.
  • Provide regular, ongoing performance feedback to employees including formal performance, plan and appraisals.
  • Assists with month-end processing so Corporate Accountants can close and reconcile the Accounts Payable and Cash Book systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related discipline.
  • Broad knowledge of accounts payable and 3 + years experience in the accounts payable field.
  • Work experience should include exposure to a manufacturing environment and hands-on experience in accounts payable processing and internal controls.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities
  • Good planning, organization and decision-making abilities are required.
  • A focus on customer service to the operating units is inherent in this position.
