IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The Hillsborough County Public Works Department is seeking an Addressing Technician to assign addresses for land development and permits, review and approve street names, and assist in the maintenance of address documentation Ideal candidates will have working knowledge of 911 Master Street Address Guide (MSAG), GIS applications, legal descriptions, title abstracting and real estate. Candidates should have demonstrated Microsoft Office and OS experience and have the ability to work in an office environment sitting for prolonged periods of time.

JOB OVERVIEW

Provides for the assignment of addresses and approval of street names for properties in unincorporated Hillsborough County in support of the 911 system and other public and private services reliant on accurate address data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Two years professional experience in Survey, Appraisal, Real Estate, and/or GIS; and
Possession of a valid Driver License.

OR

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job specific competencies listed above; and
Possession of a valid Driver License.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assigns addresses to new subdivisions and commercial projects approved for future developments within the unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County.
  • Creates address listings and diagrams for new addresses and street names to be distributed to governmental agencies and services.
  • Performs addressing reviews for Development Services for proposed subdivision and commercial projects within unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County.
  • Receives and responds to addressing requests from Development Services, the Health Department and property developers relating to the permitting process for new residential and commercial structures within unincorporated Hillsborough County.
  • Collaborates with property owners, developers, governmental agencies and utility companies in regards to adjusting addresses of existing structures and/or street names and block ranges, and complete Official Notices to be distributed indicating all changes.
  • Drives a vehicle to perform field investigations needed to research and resolve existing or potential future address problems.
  • Adds or edits the Site Address Point GIS data with the exact location of existing or proposed addresses per building permits, address changes, and various development projects.
  • Reviews proposed street names for all new roadways and the renaming of existing roadways within Hillsborough County.
  • Provides block ranges and correct spelling of streets for the installation of private and County street signs.
  • Develops and maintains block ranges for addressing purposes.
  • Provides updated address block ranges and street name information for the 911 Master Street Address Guide (MSAG).
  • Verifies, adds and deletes 911 Database Telephone records as needed.
  • Reads and plots legal descriptions from property records such as recorded deeds to determine property boundaries and access.
  • Researches hard copy and electronic files for addresses and street name discrepancies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of GIS/Drafting applications.
  • Knowledge of legal descriptions, title abstracting, and real estate.
  • Some knowledge of addressing systems.
  • Some knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, and/or Acrobat Standard.
  • Skill in effective communications to ensure quality customer service.
  • Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and to develop logical conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Vision Care: Employees and their dependents are eligible to enroll in the vision coverage. Co-payment coverage includes exams, lens and frame, as well as an allowable contact lens expense. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
  • Employee Assistance Program: This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
  • Holidays: Employees receive up to 12 paid holidays per year.
