Summary: The City of Tampa City Attorney’s Office is accepting applications for an Assistant City Attorney position. We are seeking an attorney with civil litigation experience. The nature of City litigation varies and often involves personal injury (bodily injury; property damage and premises liability), land use appeals, employment, and civil rights litigation. Minimum five to six (5-6) years of civil experience with an emphasis on insurance defense and/or civil defense work. Federal practice experience is preferred but not required. Writing skills are required and recent writing samples should be provided. Appellate experience, to include drafting briefs and oral argument, is preferred. Trial experience, and willingness to try cases, is required, with at least 10 jury trials with the majority as first chair. Proficient in Word/Excel and able to work independently. Familiarity with HOVER, JAWS and PACER a plus; Government experience a plus. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Florida and in good standing with the Florida Bar. This position is open until filled. Salary commensurate with experience. Salary range: $95,492.80 – 171,579.20 annually.
