Arthur Rutenberg Homes, Inc. is searching for an Assistant Controller who will provide hands-on leadership across a wide range of accounting activities including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial modeling, analysis and reporting, consolidation and year-end audit and income tax support preparation. As an integral part of the finance team, the Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller and can expect significant exposure to the CFO and the rest of the ARH executive leadership team. Key Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for completing consolidation of the company’s financial statements by the 7th business day of each month and preparation of monthly internal Statcast statements for all business units.

2. Responsible for monthly general ledger entries and postings in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

3. Responsible for completion of various monthly account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, rollforward schedules and analytical worksheets.

4. For assigned business units, perform a monthly review of Statcast statements and departmental expenses with applicable Department Heads and support the compilation of updated forecast expectations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

5. Assist the Controller in preparing schedules for external auditors and tax accountants.

6. Assist the Controller in performing daily banking functions, including review of bank account activity reports, updating applicable cash management worksheets and initiating ACH transactions and wire transfers.

7. Assist the Controller with quarterly and annual sales and intangible tax reporting.

8. Responsible for documenting business process and accounting policies in areas of assignment and identifying and communicating opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.

9. Other ad hoc projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
2. Master’s degree and CPA preferred.
3. Public accounting experience a plus.
4. Real estate, construction or home building experience preferred.
5. 5+ years of experience.
6. Thorough understanding of GAAP.
7. Strong working knowledge of MS Office products, including Excel and Word.
8. Knowledge of ERP systems and BI products.
9. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
