Customer (Shopper) Marketing team members develop strategy, lead planning, and execute customer-centric, local-level marketing programs in partnership with our Brands, Sales Teams, and Retailers. This is a unique position that provides exposure to the majority of our brands and Brand Experience Teams, and across all of our Operating Units (OUs).
The Publix Shopper Marketing Assistant Manager is a remote eligible position, with the option of working from the Sales Region office located in Tampa, FL. Publix is a top 5 traditional grocery, growing customer, located across 7 states in the Southeast and headquartered in Lakeland, FL, near Tampa.
As the go-to market expert on the Publix account, you will evaluate key customer and brand priorities. You will collaborate with the Publix sales team to generate creative solutions to drive display, increase baselines, and support new-item sell-in across all 3 Operating Units. You will design and activate programs against both single brand and cross-brand/cross category initiatives. You will work on building Hispanic focused programs in the Miami/South Florida market and help develop strategy to market to this unique consumer. Publix is also the #1 customer for Instacart, and you will work with that team to develop customer specific activations. At the Customer, you will connect with both Publix corporate category teams and divisional sales leads to create local & regional marketing events that drive mutually beneficial growth.
This position allows you to develop Leadership skills by navigating relationships across multiple functions and levels, both internally and externally. You will also develop core capabilities such as translating business strategy; planning involving commerce, media, incentives, creative, and partnerships; and project management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead execution of General Mills retailer shopper marketing programs and tactics with internal and external groups across all 3 OUs.
- Foster manufacturer & media partnerships to enhance marketing campaigns
- Develop and pitch shopper marketing plans and presentations
- Oversee creative briefs, timelines, budgets, etc. in support of shopper campaigns
- Conduct data/event analysis
- Attend customer meetings and foster strong working relationships with sales and marketing team members at both General Mills and our customers
- Lead strategy of annual Vendor Marketing Meeting, with VP and Director-level attendance at Publix
- Ownership of +$6MM marketing budget
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, or Business
- Minimum 3-5 years in Shopper Marketing, Brand Experience, Brand Marketing, or Sales
- Demonstrated ability to translate insights into powerful marketing programs/platforms
- Understanding of how to use Digital/Social mediums as part of a marketing mix
- Proactive leadership in identifying new opportunities and in managing day to day operations
- History of collaboration with cross-functional teams, agency partners
- Project management expertise
- Strong organization and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in developing account specific marketing plans
- Experience selling to retail customers
- Familiarity with Publix and Southeast Markets
- Hispanic marketing experience, ideally in Miami/South Florida market
