Assists in the management of the mortgage loan processing, underwriting, closing, and post-closing operations. Provides daily coaching to the mortgage operations team around internal and third-party mortgage loan guidelines and policies. Provides training to new and existing team members on a regular basis. Develops and enhances training materials to ensure a consistent, repeatable training process is maintained. Supports the team by engaging on mortgage operations activities as needed to manage the flow of application volume. Helps drive a results orientation

Partner with vendors to ensure that loan forms and documents are compliant and meet all regulatory requirements. Assure employees are trained, scheduled and appropriately performing job duties to provide a world-class member experience. Supports the Mortgage Operations Manager is directing the flow of mortgage loan operations through peak seasonal and cyclical times as volumes can increase rapidly and often unexpectedly.

Will be required to work some weekends, evenings and work out of multiple locations as needed.

Essential Functions & Additional Responsibilities

20% Assists in the management of the work produced by the loan processing, underwriting, closing and post-closing team members. Supports the Mortgage Operations Manager in holding weekly team meetings, monthly individual feedback sessions, and annual performance reviews. Prepares team member scorecards on a monthly basis to ensure accountability within the team for performance standards.

15% Coaches team members around meeting the guidelines and policy requirement of multiple stakeholders including: the credit union, mortgage insurance providers, Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae, and other investors as dictated by the needs of each individual loan request.

15% Provides training at new hire and on an ongoing basis to the mortgage operations team. Creates training documents, manuals, guides, and FAQs to serve as a foundation for the training curriculum.

15% Engages in loan processing, underwriting, closing and post-closing activities as needed when the volume of work is high to ensure delivery of a world-class member experience. Makes loan approval decisions on moderate risk loan requests as needed.

10% Gathers key metrics used to track mortgage lending efficiency and effectiveness from a variety of sources such as DataMart and MortgageBot to allow for daily, weekly and monthly reporting as appropriate.

10% Makes updates to the mortgage Point of Sale POS and Loan Origination Software LOS to reflect changes in rates or guidelines as well as the introduction of new mortgage products/programs.

10% Partners with mortgage forms system providers to maintain compliant loan documentation at all times. Works with the Mortgage Operations Manager to implement new regulations or revised regulatory guidelines to meet all compliance deadlines and requirements.

5% Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associates degree obtained through a formal 2 year program at an accredited educational facility preferred or equivalent experience

Experience:

Required

  • 5+ years in mortgage operations processing, underwriting, closing, post-closing or related experienceDesired
  • 2+ years in mortgage lending management or related experience.

  • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to: U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
