Summary:
Assist project manager in day to day field operation activities for large, extensive construction projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise craft workers assigned to area of responsibility. Provide liaison between field engineering, estimating, and crafts to ensure compliance of construction with drawings and specifications.
Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, requirements, etc. are maintained.
Monitor work performance and productivity to crafts to ensure project rules, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained.
Ensure that time cards are completed to accurately reflect hours worked.
Advise senior level supervision and project management of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
Maintain liaison with other departments, i.e., Purchasing, Accounting, Engineering, etc. as required to support construction schedule.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor s direction.
Enter level estimating, bid work up on estimate program, request quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
Proposal writing for bids, acquire prequalification package information.
Attends pre-bid meeting.
Requires travel.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise up to five employees and supervise field crews and subcontractors in the absence of the supervisor/foreman.
Requirements:
Knowledge of construction, design, finance and management. Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance. Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards and activities.
Education and Experience:
Four year construction management, engineering, or similar degree or equivalent technical training and related experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.
