POSITION: CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT COORDINATOR

POSITION NO: 3.222

DEPARTMENT: Public Works – Utilities

PAY GRADE: 27

SALARY RANGE: $24.75- $42.38 per hour

This position is responsible for the management of multi-component public works projects of various sizes and complexities. These projects may cross multiple divisions and departments. Projects being managed have high visibility, impact, and risk at the
Department and/or City level. This position manages construction elements, contractors, consultants, and vendors while effectively interfacing with City staff, outside utility companies, other government agencies, as well as the public. This position plans, budgets, oversees, and documents all aspects of specified work elements and projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering, GIS, Utilities, and Planning.
  • Basic understanding of surveying practices and principals.
  • Knowledgeable in project management and the practical application of related principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Ability to direct and manage multiple consultants, resources, and projects to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ability to make informed decisions regarding project management.
  • Ability to prepare cost estimates and budgets for projects.
  • Ability to build coalitions among the various public entities and stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to facilitate the open exchange of ideas and information.
  • Skilled in presenting project progress, addressing problems, and finding solutions.
  • Ability to manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret construction plans and technical specifications.
  • Ability to write scopes of work and technical specifications.
  • Efficient with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs.
  • Efficient with the use of ESRI GIS software (i.e., ArcGIS)
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Training, Certification, and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
  • Experience and/or educational training should be in the areas of municipal work related to design concepts for roadway, stormwater, wastewater collection, potable water distribution, utility construction, and ArcGIS.
  • Project management and administrative experience preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Valid Florida driver’s license.

The City of Temple Terrace is a drug-free workplace.
