Position Summary:
Independent Management Services, LLC Member Services Specialists are a select group of highly motivated individuals with excellent
communication and people skills who are eager to provide a consistently superior service experience to our members.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for adjudicating and ensuring proper payment of claims
- Enters claim data correctly and verifies deductibles, co-insurance and co-payments
- Performs timely and appropriate insurance follow up with billing office and clients
- Investigates every account billed to our clients to ensure timely filing and proper payments
- Resolves claim issues for members and providers when needed
- Handles confidential information in accordance to HIPAA requirements
- Documents calls in accordance with departmental
policies
Qualifications
- At least 2+ years experience in claims processing.
- 2+ years healthcare experience.
- 2 year College degree in a health care, business or related field of study or currently enrolled in an associates/bachelor’s degree program.
- Experience in the health care industry will sometimes be considered as an alternative to the degree requirement.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, referral process, ICD-9 and CPT coding
- Ability to learn all functions of our claims processing software for processing and adjudication (100-120 claims per day)
- Possesses strong interpersonal communication and problem solving skills
- Detail-oriented
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with the ability to set appropriate priorities and respond to changes when dealing with daily deadlines.
- Fluency in languages other than English (especially Spanish), not required, but a plus
