Collection Assistant
Summary:
The collection assistant will perform clerical and administrative duties in support of a high volume collections practice of law firm. Responsibilities include; preparing and processing pleadings, legal documents and correspondence using merge forms; handling assigned tasks by reviewing and working files from assigned queues; processing incoming and outgoing mail; and preparing and filing documents with the court.
DOCUMENT PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING
- Prepare pleadings, legal documents and correspondence using merge forms
- Continuously monitor department e-mail inbox and code e-mails according to preset categories
- Process incoming mail received electronically and/or by hard copy and x-code for proper queue and follow-up
- Process outgoing mail and e-file documents with the Court
FILE MANAGEMENT
- Enter notes in database of all record activities
- Complete tasks assigned via various queues within timelines set by the attorney and supervisor
- Prioritizes work appropriately based on needs of attorney and case deadlines
COMMUNICATION
- Communicate with attorney and supervisor regarding case files and workload; keep attorney informed of all important matters and deadlines
- Communicate with clients, court clerks, opposing counsel, judicial assistants, etc. by e-mail, telephone, or correspondence
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred but no req.
- Minimum of one year of legal experience, collections experience preferred but not req.

Salary: $15.00 to $16.00 /hour
