REPORTS TO: Preconstruction Services Manager
What We’re Looking For:
Our Southeast Region is growing and we need to add a highly motivated and focused team member who is driven to find creative ways to set up our construction projects to be winners! We’re looking for a Purchasing Agent (PA) to work out of our Tampa, FL office.
Do you enjoy reading construction documents, interpreting fine details of an estimate and revealing the risk and potential rewards? Can you establish relationships with suppliers and aggressively negotiate pricing while staying within budget of the project? Feel comfortable communicating the people at all levels within the organization?
The successful candidate will:
- Review specifications and architectural drawings to identify and procure ISEC scopes of work, with a particular focus in architectural millwork
- Pinpoint all material, labor, general conditions, and contingencies on the preliminary job cost and in the purchasing agreements
- Request quotes, analyze pricing and compliance, prepare contracts and process the required documentation
- Develop budgets, schedules, performance plans, and find solutions to efficiently meet the demands of the project schedule and strive to beat budgeted costs
- Lead team update meetings with a focus on presenting risks, opportunities and solutions to complex problems
- Work with estimators to ensure that the estimate is complete, and all risk is covered/mitigated. Account for any missing items in estimate
- Work with project managers to clearly communicate schedules, risks, vendor conflicts, etc.
- Interview vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
- Maintain manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, or inventories
- Accurately cover risk and capitalize on opportunities in submittals
- Other unplanned activities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to minimum qualifications)
Education/experience
- Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent
- Two to five years’ experience in the commercial construction industry
- Practical knowledge of construction methods and materials, with a focus on Architectural Woodwork and/or Ornamental Metals
Minimum Qualifications
Education/experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two to three years’ experience with ISEC or similar environment
- Demonstrated experience reading construction documents such as specifications and architectural drawings
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Innovative/Critical thinker with strong numeric ability and reasoning
- Attentive to detail, organized, able to manage priorities as you help with multiple projects
- Practical knowledge of commercial construction methods and application of principles
- Self-motivated to stay on top of a fast-paced schedule
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills
