Under the direction of the Senior Director of Communications, the essential functions of this position are:
- to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive communications actions for the Clerk & Comptroller’s Office
- to ensure all communications about all functions of the Office reflect the agency’s focus, mission/vision, and values
- work closely with operations leadership, especially in DEI, Administration and HR
- deliver communications and focus on delivery methods, including all social media as appropriate, to maximize stakeholder engagement
Other important duties include:
- actions to continue to improve engagement through clear, transparent and two-way communication with appropriate focus on social media platforms and traditional channels
- support executive leadership with their communications and employee engagement needs

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

- familiarity with multiple social media platforms and content creation with in-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and analytics tools, including Google Analytics

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

- Strategies – Develop, execute, and evaluate internal/external communications strategies ensuring organization goals, initiatives, and news are communicated regularly and effectively.
- Action Plans – Collaborate with other Communications staff to develop employee engagement plans and campaigns to inspire and engage employees.
- Implementation – Create, coordinate and direct internal/external communications and dissemination of information about the Clerk & Comptroller’s office and its programs to employees, the public, and media representatives. Work closely with HR, senior leaders, DEI, Training and Clerk’s Administration to craft and distribute key communications to ensure a clear, open and transparent communications.
- Participate in strategic planning and development initiatives with the Clerk & Comptroller and executive staff; develops and utilizes organizational analytics and reporting to support critical decisions made in the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures including laws/policies governing release of public records/information; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
- Performs other duties as needed, including those performed by subordinate and/or clerical staff.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Management or related field
- Experience generating public communications for government agencies; preferred.
- At least one year of professional experience creating social media content and monitoring data and analytics related to that content
- At least one year of professional experience using graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and/or Canva
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage time effectively to meet publishing deadlines
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
An Associate’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Management or related field and two years of recent and relevant marketing, communications and/or outreach experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; may also require crouching, manual dexterity, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to outdoor weather for travel between office locations or for events.
