Our client is a respected Heavy Civil construction firm in in the greater Tampa, Florida area. They are looking for a results-driven and detail-oriented Controller / Office Manager to oversee, lead, and enhance their accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with a strong background in construction accounting practices and strong organizational skills. The Controller will ensure the accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments, preliminary lien notices, lien releases, and other functions. This position also includes Office Management responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 5-10 people in the accounting department.
  • Issue lien notices and lien releases
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports.
  • Implement and maintain efficient and effective accounts payable processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve payment discrepancies and other related issues.
  • Review and reconcile vendor statements and address any outstanding issues.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth payment processes.
  • Provide regular reports and analysis to management on accounts payable metrics.
  • Office Management duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with a Construction firm HIGHLY PREFERRED.
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounts payable/accounts receivable role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in relevant accounting software, including Viewpoint, and Microsoft Excel.
