Position Highlights:

As a member of the Corporate and Community Giving team, the Special Events Coordinator will be a main point of contact for one of our signature fundraising events, Miles for Moffitt. This position assists with the planning and implementation of this annual race and supporting events, with a primary focus on volunteer management and outreach with a secondary focus on event logistics. Reporting to the Special Events Supervisor, this position is an integral part of the Foundation’s efforts to reach financial targets and provide critical funding for Moffitt Cancer Center’s research initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with logistics for Miles for Moffitt and various fund raising/support events as assigned. Handle event logistics including but not limited to: collection of event RSVPs, organization and management of volunteers, registration, and implementation of event.
  • Manage and steward ongoing relationships with event volunteers. Responsible for fulfilling all event volunteer needs and implementing volunteer orientation/training, schedules, etc.
  • Create and maintain vendor relationships as assigned to purchase Miles for Moffitt merchandise to fulfill event needs.
  • Monitor and respond to Miles for Moffitt email and phone correspondence. Manage participant registrations and data in Luminate Team Raiser database. Organize a calendar of outreach opportunities/events. Maintain volunteer data for reporting.

Credentials and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Business Philanthropy, Communications, Healthcare, Hospitality, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in a fundraising/philanthropy environment with a concentration on special events, volunteer management, and/or community outreach is required.
  • Ability to be flexible and effectively interact with a variety of audiences; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; demonstrated proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
