Overview
This Cost Accountant role, which is newly created due to growth of Cirkul, reports to the Supply Chain Controller and is a unique opportunity to contribute to a key area of growth for the company. You’ll be a member of a strategic and enterprising team that’s responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial data while understanding and steering the operational processes that impact inventory valuation and reporting. Cost accounting and financial accounting course work is required.
Our ideal candidate should be motivated, eager and passionate about accounting and financial reporting as disciplines and excited to work and grow professionally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We’re looking for a strong communicator with a solid work ethic and organizational skills. They should also be able to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a strategic team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform ongoing analysis of inventory data to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports, including inventory valuation and COGS metrics
- Develop a solid understanding of operational processes impacting inventory, and collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to improve the timeliness and accuracy of data
- Assist with SKU management by gaining strong familiarity with all company products and raw materials
- Prepare various reconciliations and rollforwards of inventory activity in connection with month-end close procedures
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable as needed regarding inventory-related payables
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting of unit costs and inventory levels
- Strive to become a subject-matter-expect regarding the inventory module of the ERP, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, and suggest and implement modifications to continuously streamline processes
- Assist with year-end financial statement disclosures around inventory and assist with audit requests
- Perform process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies for company.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Supply Chain Controller and VP of Finance.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Supply Chain
- Passion for process improvement
- Intermediate experience with Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, etc.)
- Meticulous time management skills, ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
