DEPUTY CITY ATTORNEY. The City of Port St. Lucie, currently the 7th largest City in the state and home to over 206,000 residents, is seeking an experienced Deputy City Attorney to join its in-house legal staff. This position requires general knowledge of municipal law, such as drafting ordinances & resolutions, prosecuting code enforcement matters, land use & zoning, contracts & procurement, interlocal agreements, annexations, and public records law.
The ideal candidate will join a full-time, in-house staff of 10 attorneys and 6 paralegals in handling the legal affairs of the City, a Community Redevelopment Agency and the Governmental Finance Corporation, and must be a team-player capable of excelling in a collegial environment. A successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years experience, preferably representing government clients, be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar, and be admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida.
