GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Provides procurement, operational, and field support for tourist development and destination stewardship projects.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Coordinates execution of tourist development tax funded capital improvement projects; serves as project manager to ensures project completion within established scope, time frame and budget; meets regularly with consulting engineers, contractors and construction personnel regarding work progress, quality and safety requirements; coordinates with appropriate regulatory agencies, as required (e.g. permitting, right-of-way).
 
Coordinates procurements with the Purchasing Department; reconciles vendor invoices to contract terms and verifies all work and requisite documentation has been completed prior to submitting for payment.
 
Researches, gathers data, and assimilates information; utilizes data and information acquired to make recommendations on new projects and technologies designed to promote tourism. 
 
Assists Destination Stewardship and Marketing teams with implementation of physical tourism assets. 
 
Constructs or assists with the construction of small capital projects. 
 
Moves, permits, and/or sets up equipment, trailers and small structures as needed. 
 
Recommends and implements physical improvements ranging from water tower murals, wayfinding signage, adventure sheds, flags, tourism center amenities, etc.  
Inspects assets related to tourism; coordinates maintenance, upkeep and repairs with other County departments, contractors, volunteers or other groups. 
 
Assists with sand fencing, temporary sand groins, turtle projects, trash removal, hurricane cleanup, sea oat planting, and other tourism related projects.  
 
Maintains a full inventory of County tourism assets and capabilities to include detailed maintenance records on each asset.
 
Communicates with internal and external stakeholders regarding product development & expansion projects; cultivates productive working relationships with tourism partners, cities and counties, and community entities such as local community groups, leaseholders, governments, attractions, events, and Chambers.
 
Seeks grants, collaborative partnerships and other funding to implement projects initiatives. 
 
Mitigates barriers to existing and potential tourism-related opportunities and activities.
 
Must be able to meet work schedule and attendance standards, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
 
Performs related duties as required.MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree with a focus in Business Management, Public Administration, Project Management, Construction Management or a closely related field supplemented by three (3) years’ experience in project management, general contracting, drafting or inspection, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects and work independently with minimal supervision required. The ability to read construction drawings as well as a general knowledge of construction is preferred.  Experience with a destination or tourism related organization or local government is preferred.  Experience hauling a trailer is preferred.  Requires a valid driver license.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  Must be able to bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.   Must be able to move about on hand and knees or hands and feet.  Must be able to reach, extending hand(s) in any direction.  Must be able to handle, seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hand(s).  Must be able to finger, pick, pinch or otherwise work primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm.  Must be able to sit for approximately 50% of the time.  Must be able to perform manual labor to include light construction, equipment moving, trash/debris removal.  Must be willing work odd hours, nights and weekends on occasion and during hot or cold conditions.

Verbal Aptitude:  Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.  Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical languages, such as computer and accounting as used within the parameters of the job.
 
Numerical Aptitude:  Must be able to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, calculate percentages and decimals.
 
Forms/Spatial Aptitude:  Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.
 
Motor Coordination:  Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using automated office equipment; to operate motor vehicles.
Manual Dexterity:  Requires the ability to handle a variety of items including computer keyboards, office equipment, control knobs, switches, etc.  Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
