The ideal candidate for our Director, Senior Counsel for Real Estate would have a minimum of seven years of experience with real estate law. Will perform all attorney-level work associated with new development, renewals, assignments, relocations, sales, etc. Experience in the restaurant industry or a related industry or experience with liquor licensing issues is not required, but is a plus.
Due to the current pandemic, the early stage interview process for the role will consist of phone and video interviews. Finalist candidates may be asked to conduct an in-person final interview, with safe social distancing practices. The role will be based in our Tampa corporate office and is not eligible for consideration as a full-time, long-term remote role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Review of leases and negotiating subleases, assignments, guarantee releases, etc..
- Responsible for all work associated with securing new locations, renewals, assignments, transfers, etc.
- Review and advise on all property related issues (purchases, sales, condemnations, easements, etc.), landlord/tenant disputes and related resolutions.
- Ongoing safeguarding of real estate assets.
- Facilitation of sale-leaseback transactions.
- Working collaboratively with other members of Legal team to provide support as needed on projects outside of essential duties.
- Assisting with special projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- J.D. is required
- Florida Bar Admission or eligibility for Florida Authorized House counsel, required
Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of 7 years related legal experience, required. Experience with handling multi-unit commercial real estate legal matters is especially important.
- High attention to detail required.
- Highly organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, required.
- Ability to quickly and proactively identify and analyze issues, develop solutions and deliver results, required.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat, required.
