The Office of Administration and Finance at The University of Tampa has an opening for a Director, Administrative Services. This position has the responsibility to assist with the development and management of the University’s capital budgets, risk management, certain administrative services, various leases and other duties under the leadership of the Associate Vice President of Administration and Finance.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist with the overall planning, monitoring, and coordination of the University’s risk management and property and casualty insurance.
2. Assist in preparing, reviewing, administering, monitoring, and tracking of capital budgets.
3. Review and tracking of costs for construction and facilities projects.
4. Assist the Associate Vice President with management of the purchasing and central receiving departments with emphasis on maintaining up to date purchasing policies and procedures.
5. Provide support and assistance as needed with Facilities Rentals, property leases, and acquisition and management of real estate.
6. Manage laundry, auto, equipment, and selected other leases.
7. Evaluate and provide feedback with reviewing contracts and other documents.
8. Assist with a variety of technical tasks, e.g. participate in computer system upgrades and associated testing, and engage in the continuing review, definition, and analysis of functional needs, requirements, and business rules and processes.
9. Assist with strategic and complex special projects impacting all University stakeholders. May involve contact with high-level professional advisors to the University including attorneys, auditors, underwriters, financial advisors and other outside consultants.
10. Assume responsibilities for special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Finance and Administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Computerized accounting system, knowledge of Workday desirable.
2. Strong organization, interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
3. Thorough understanding and ability to apply fundamental accounting principles.
4. Strong numerical and analytical skills.
5. Extensive knowledge of spreadsheet, graphic and database software.
6. Ability to recognize and respect the confidential nature of information.
7. Accuracy, organization and attention to detail.
8. Maintain confidentiality as required in all areas of the position.
9. Proven ability to work as a team player and appropriately exhibiting a positive attitude.
10. Ability to resolve issues, resulting in mutual respect and tolerance for varying points to view.
Minimum r equirements
1. A Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization or a Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of appropriate experience and relevant college level coursework (information systems and accounting).
2. Working knowledge of automated accounting systems.
3. Working knowledge and experience in developing worksheets, graphs, and use of other productivity tools.
4. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
5. Able to multitask and work independently.
Highly P referred
1. CPA or CMA certification.
2. Working experience in a University setting or similar not-for profit environment.
3. Experience using Workday accounting software.
