Director of Development Job Description

The DeBartolo Family Foundation is seeking a full-time Director of Development to implement the Family’s strategy and vision for the non-profit. The desired candidate must have at least five years’ experience working with non-profits, effective communications skills, excellent organizations skills and success developing community relationships.

The Director of Development will report to the Board of Directors and manage a Development Coordinator. Priority Areas of focus for the successful candidate include:

  1. Fundraising – Increase the Foundation’s principal and grants awarded through personal and corporate contributions, special events, partnerships and community awareness
  2. Relationship Building – Develop new community relationships and partnerships and cultivate existing relationships
  3. Event Planning – Implement and assist with all aspects of the event planning for the Foundation’s primary fundraiser, the All Star Charity Gala which draws 600+ guests, as well as all other special events
  4. Administrative – Ensure the organization is well-managed and legal fiduciary, regulatory, and reporting standards and best practices are met; monitor budgets while maximizing revenue and keeping expenses at a minimum

In addition to the above, position specific tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage all mailings, including the annual Newsletter
  • Manage all social media platforms
  • Manage the Foundation’s charitable grant giving annual meetings, including soliciting applications from organizations and writing reports to present to the Board of Directors
  • Solicit Spirit of Humanity Award applications from grass roots organizations and provide report and recommendations
