Directs and assists in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of the building/facility, equipment and machinery (including HVAC), building lighting systems, grounds keeping, security, safety, and overall facility appearance for all of Metropolitan Ministries’ properties. Supervise and coordinate the work of employees who provide a safe, secure, and compliant work and residential environment. Oversee the work of those who repair and maintain building/facility, equipment and machinery. This position will lead his/her team by demonstrating attitudes and behaviors that exemplify the missions, vision, and guiding values of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Manages the safety, security, and maintenance of all Met Min buildings, grounds, equipment, and organization facilities, including those off site and in Pasco County.
  • Keeps in compliance with and abreast of all OSHA regulations.
  • Assists in contracts with and supervises all outside contractors and vendors.
  • Responsible for maintaining a preventive maintenance program within the confines of an annual budget. This includes all heating, air conditioning, as well as maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
  • Assist with the preparation of an annual budget and operating within that budget with regard to the expenses for supplies, operating costs, utilities, salaries and other budget necessities.
  • Maintain plan for fire evacuation and hurricane/disaster response; coordinate with leadership, and city/county when necessary, emergency responses as needed.
  • Director of safety and security program.
  • Responsible for recycling program.
  • Maintain up to date records for all state, federal, and insurance semi-annual and annual inspections.
  • Oversees maintenance, environmental, and security staff, including in Pasco County.
  • Provide necessary training to new and existing employees.
  • Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations; must be a self-starter who can work well with others at all levels both on campus and elsewhere.
  • Support the holiday center program as directed, and in particular, with the erection and take down of the tent.
  • Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals as stated on the Balanced Scorecard and in the annual plan.
  • Provides support to Operations and other teams as needed.

Education and Experience :

AA degree with 3+ years related experience or certifications/trade licenses in related maintenance/construction field with 5 years hands on related experience; supervisory experience preferred. Experience with project management desirable.

Skill Requirements :

Good computer and clerical skills to match needs of position to include Microsoft Office with skills in word processing and spreadsheet preferred.
Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework; must be able to communicate effectively in English; Spanish as a second language preferred. Dependability; demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity’; ability to plan and organize work and attend to detail; ability to handle job related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner.

Physical Requirements :

Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information; physical, emotional and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. Must be able to tolerate exposure to local climate for extended periods while working out of doors; Must be able to work in freezer/cold storage unit environment. Must be able to endure prolonged standing, sitting, or walking and perform tasks that require bending, sitting or stooping; must be able to work in areas with low or no lighting and be able to tolerate heights. Ability to lift 50 pounds and go up and down stairs

Other :

Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule during strategic and holiday periods of the year including weeknights, weekends, and particularly Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Must be legally licensed and capable of driving Ministries vehicles. Must pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures, specifically criminal background/drug and alcohol testing.
