Purpose of Job
We are seeking two (2) Directors, Real Estate Servicing Oversight to support the Real Estate Default Servicing area. The Director roles will either support Early Stage Default (Collections, Loss Mitigation) or Late Stage Default (Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Real Estate Owned, Property Preservation, Claims Processing).These roles will have responsibility for leading direct reports in conducting oversight related activities of our current sub servicing partner, working with both internal and external partners to resolve identified issues, and define strategic direction to support the highest levels of performance while mitigating identified risks.
This position leads, guides, and supports the development of strategies, and resolves roadmaps for member and/or business need outcomes. Manages and leads a team of professionals responsible for creating and implementing activities related to USAA’s Real Estate Servicing Oversight Program to ensure review of quality, performance, and excellence in operations. Understands the business performance of the portfolio of experiences and their financial impact on the business. Responsible for the risk, controls, and mitigation strategies for experiences through consistent use and application of existing frameworks and follows documented risk and compliance policies and procedures for all business activities. Ensures the teams’ continuous monitoring of the sub-servicer to minimize failures, eliminate redundancies, and improve control process performance to achieve efficient, effective design and execution of the process. In addition, the Director ensures appropriate talent, tools, and measures are in place to establish and sustain best in class performance.
Location – USAA values a culture that is highly collaborative, and we have found that a hybrid work type helps employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home. The actual onsite days are settled between each employee and the employee’s manager. Candidates are expected to live a commutable distance from one of our offices in San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Tampa, FL. This position also has the option to be remote.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
- Coordinates the overall success of USAA’s Servicing Oversight Program as a function and supports senior management to ensure plans, operational environment, regulatory, Government-Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) and government obligations are in place.
- Develops, implements, maintains, and monitors programs, processes, systems, performance standards, and operational plans, to include timeliness, quality and/or productivity, in support of company and function objectives.
- Accountable for financial, regulatory, and operational risk management related to member and/or business needs
- Develops, implements, and coordinates Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs); uses data to refine business cases
- Drives and influences key partners aligned to strategic outcomes in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Communicates with executive audience and builds and maintains effective relationships with internal and external partners. Partners effectively to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Ensures communications, training, and development are in place for a successful implementation of projects affecting the operations.
- Builds and leads a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities. Provides direction and assistance to staff and while adhering to regulations, policies, and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree (12 years total experience).
- 8 years of experience within the mortgage servicing industry or other relevant financial services industry.
- 3 or more years of management or leadership experience.
- Subject-matter-expert understanding of mortgage industry, or a relevant financial services industry and related regulatory requirements through demonstrated application of knowledge, skills and abilities towards work products required.
- Extensive experience working in Residential Mortgage Servicing, including Loan Administration and/or Default Management.
- Experience in audit, quality, or business requirements including GSE, Agency, State and Federal regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of federal laws, rules, and regulations to include HMDA, TILA/REG Z, RESPA, FDPA, Reg AB, SCRA, FCRA, Reg X.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing and/or working for a mortgage sub-servicer or providing oversight support within the mortgage industry.
- Vendor management experience within the mortgage industry to include contract negotiation, service level agreement management, conflict resolution, and day to day performance discussions.
- Experience interacting with regulators, upper management and all lines of defense (Compliance. Legal, Audit).
- Experience with process management to include risk identification, control creation and execution, issue management, and performance tracking.
- Experience in managing and/or overseeing both Collections and Loss Mitigation activities to include member contact activities, process exception management, regulatory adherence and performance tracking (Early Stage).
- Experience in managing and/or overseeing Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Real Estate Owned, Property Preservation, Claims Processing activities to include process exception management, regulatory adherence and performance tracking. (Late Stage).

Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $106,800 – $192,300*.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.
Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
