Position Title: District Manager – 8E

Position Summary

Responsible for the district’s profit and loss and oversight for all of the functions (e.g., operations, sales, real estate, service delivery, assets and finance) in the assigned district. Responsible for managing project team in the assigned district to ensure that the District and Area financial objectives are met and that Crown Castle operational asset management standards and procedures are properly implemented. Responsible for coordinating the collection, maintenance, and quality of data about the district’s assets to ensure that the team maintains an accurate, up-to-date status of the district’s assets. Maintains Crown Castle’s assets in the most cost efficient manner, thereby helping to maximize the yield on those assets. Has a good knowledge of the competitive landscape in the district and uses this knowledge to get more customers on Crown Castle towers faster than the competition.

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Manage the profit & loss, job cost, cash flow and increase asset yield for the district.
  • Keep Area Director District Operations well informed regarding functional, budgetary and customer satisfaction issues in the district. Immediately report excessive fluctuations in financial projections for the current quarter/year.
  • Serve as the senior customer service contact in the district. Ensure that all customer issues are resolved quickly to the satisfaction of the customer and shareholders.
  • Communicate directly with customers as appropriate acting as the final escalation point for customer issues. Ensure that the district team keeps customers informed of project progress, issues and projected completion dates. Develop a strong working relationship with each customer’s decision makers in order to maximize new SLAs and service revenue.
  • Identify new business opportunities in own district and escalate to the appropriate individuals at the area and corporate levels (i.e., sales, business development). Look for and act on opportunities to strategically increase organic growth of Crown Castle’s business in own district.
  • Partner with Area Director District Operations and Director of Sales to sell and execute expanded district services and installations in accordance with Crown Castle policies and procedures and meeting customer expectations.
  • Partner with Property and Portfolio Extension Departments in negotiations with landlords to secure and protect our long-term margins and resolve landlord concerns.
  • Partner with all Functional Directors in support of all cross-functional Crown value initiatives.
  • Overall responsibility for application to “on air” timeline ensuring disciplined delivery throughout the process to expedite customer’s use of our site while maintaining Crown Castle standards and policies.
  • Work with the Tower Operations Manager to ensure cost effective repair and maintenance of the sites and capital expenditures are allocated appropriately.
  • Work with the regional financial analyst in review of expenses; manage expense and capital budgets to maximize margins and achieve targeted financial objectives.
  • Coordinate with Area Director, District Operations, of projected need for additional project support as work load requires.
  • Manage a team of Program Managers, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators including hiring, terminations, performance reviews, training, rewards and recognition, and scheduling.

Education/Certifications

 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical/civil/structural engineering/business or equivalent experience
    • PMP certification preferred but not required

Experience/Minimum Requirements

 

    • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in wireless project management or a related industry
    • Previous people management experience required – previous experience managing off-site teams preferred

Other Skills/Abilities

 

    • Thorough knowledge of telecommunications/wireless project management, asset management, tower maintenance and property management
    • Ability to read and understand financial metrics and identify remedies to financial issues
    • Ability to direct a team by setting goals and priorities to facilitate achievement of organizational objectives
    • Strong computer skills especially Excel and Microsoft Office
    • Strong communication skills
    • Customer focus with a problem solving approach to each customer install
    • Disciplined approach to answering customer questions/concerns by the end of each business day

Organizational Relationship

Reports to: Area Director District Operations

Travel: 50% regional travel

Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): Program Managers, Implementation Managers, Project Manager, Project Coordinator

Working Conditions: Works in a normal office setting with occasional travel to tower sites or other district and area offices as necessary.
