Overview
Self-directed, hands-on professional responsible for organizing and processing all daily accounting transactions associated with a construction project. The Project Accountant is responsible for all billing, change order preparation, accounts payable, cost coding, and job coding for all assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Review approved subcontractor and vendor billings for accuracy
- Manage subcontractor compliance with terms and conditions of the contract, including items such as bonds, insurance, waivers, billing accuracy, etc.
- Review and maintain accurate Project Cost Report, maintain Budget vs Actual Reports, and monitor all Budgets with weekly billing
- Generate and accurately process monthly General Construction G702/703 requisition billing in a timely manner
- Maintain financial project files
- Assist in financial aspects of project close-out
- Additional assignments upon request of accounting supervisors
- Oversight or A/R, A/P, and Credit Card entries and reconciliations;
- Maintain adherence to GAAP accounting principles;
- Assist in month-end close schedule development, maintenance and entry
- Maintain the chart of accounts along with cost codes
- Support and participate in the development of new business process management systems and compliance of same.
- Support business process management improvements including electronic and software integration.
- Participate in department training and learning programs for personal and professional development.
- Accountable for daily attendance, personal days, vacations, and holidays.
- Contribute to periodic performance reviews and embrace improvements.
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
- 2-4+ years of progressively responsible experience in business and/or corporate accounting
- Strong aptitude and operational skills in QuickBooks accounting software;
- Strong aptitude and operational skills in MS Office software, especially Excel;
- Experience working with multiple legal entities under different legal structures preferred;
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-growth work environment;
- Strong work ethic with ability to meet all assigned deadlines;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization;
- Professional business and relationship skills;
- Exceptional organizational and priorities management skills
