Overview
Self-directed, hands-on professional responsible for organizing and processing all daily accounting transactions associated with a construction project. The Project Accountant is responsible for all billing, change order preparation, accounts payable, cost coding, and job coding for all assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review approved subcontractor and vendor billings for accuracy
  • Manage subcontractor compliance with terms and conditions of the contract, including items such as bonds, insurance, waivers, billing accuracy, etc.
  • Review and maintain accurate Project Cost Report, maintain Budget vs Actual Reports, and monitor all Budgets with weekly billing
  • Generate and accurately process monthly General Construction G702/703 requisition billing in a timely manner
  • Maintain financial project files
  • Assist in financial aspects of project close-out
  • Additional assignments upon request of accounting supervisors
  • Oversight or A/R, A/P, and Credit Card entries and reconciliations;
  • Maintain adherence to GAAP accounting principles;
  • Assist in month-end close schedule development, maintenance and entry
  • Maintain the chart of accounts along with cost codes
  • Support and participate in the development of new business process management systems and compliance of same.
  • Support business process management improvements including electronic and software integration.
  • Participate in department training and learning programs for personal and professional development.
  • Accountable for daily attendance, personal days, vacations, and holidays.
  • Contribute to periodic performance reviews and embrace improvements.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance;
  • 2-4+ years of progressively responsible experience in business and/or corporate accounting
  • Strong aptitude and operational skills in QuickBooks accounting software;
  • Strong aptitude and operational skills in MS Office software, especially Excel;
  • Experience working with multiple legal entities under different legal structures preferred;
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-growth work environment;
  • Strong work ethic with ability to meet all assigned deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization;
  • Professional business and relationship skills;
  • Exceptional organizational and priorities management skills
