Qualifications: BS degree preferred. Familiar with Florida coastal ecosystems, boat operations and maintenance experience required and the ability to work with student and adult volunteers to restore Tampa Bay.
Salary: Based upon experience. Health insurance and retirement savings programs available.
Responsibilities: Marine Science position primarily responsible for supporting the development of the Community Oyster Restoration and Enhancement (CORE) program, Great Bay Scallop Search, monofilament collection and recycling program and other restoration and educational programs of Tampa Bay Watch. Activities include:
- Site development, grant writing, permitting, community event coordination and monitoring of coastal oyster shell restoration projects in Tampa Bay.
- Coordination of the Great Bay Scallop Search community snorkeling event to monitor the health of scallop populations in Tampa Bay.
- Coordination of monofilament fishing line removal projects at area colonial bird islands, and the collection of waste fishing line from collection tubes at area fishing locations.
- Responsible for driving and operations of our USCG certified 32′ classroom catamaran for educational field trips and Carolina Skiff vessels for restoration activities.
- Support for Tampa Bay Watch restoration events and educational field trips as needed.
Position requires highly motivated, hardworking individual who can coordinate a diverse group of adults and kids to undertake restoration projects. Requires construction and maintenance activities at times in the great Florida outdoors.
