Purpose of Job The Executive Director Real Estate Originations provides direction and management for Federal Savings Bank loan originations in multi-site call centers fulfilling member demand for mortgage products. This position will oversee member contact via inbound/outbound phone, email, chat and text communication channels through a team of approximately 500 mortgage loan officers in 3-4 locations.

Job Requirements
Responsible for the oversight of the origination of first lien and home equity products to residential mortgage customers via multi-site origination centers in Tampa, San Antonio and Phoenix. Leads and directs the day to day management of mortgage loan originations process including lead generation, originations, realtor and builder relationships, quality, advocating for members and delivering an industry leading member experience. Will ensure loans are originated in compliance with USAA standards for investment quality, risk, and meeting the members’ desired close date.

Leads site directors who are responsible for the day to day management of 100-250 origination team members and subordinate management teams. Responsible for the effective communication, coaching and development for all employees through their management chain to ensure that goals and expectations are understood and achieved. Trains and develops subordinate directors in relevant technical, facilitation, human resources, compliance and regulatory, and industry related policies, procedures and issues.

Ensures that training guidelines and instructional resources are provided, enabling USAA guidelines, policies, procedures and member service goals are met or exceeded. Responsible for ongoing performance and development of the Real Estate Originations Directors.

Builds an environment where members are served by providing them with industry leading support through their mortgage transaction.

Maintains current expertise on all national developments and trends in mortgage lending that may affect the competitiveness, quality, compliance, and/or profitability of products and services.

Recommends strategies to enhance origination processes in order to achieve a competitive advantage and improve member experience.

Builds effective communication routines between regional originations sites and executive management to ensure that local concerns are properly addressed and accounted for in establishment of consistent national business practices.

Able to effectively lead target teams in a matrixed organization.

Oversees the development and implementation of systems and processes which result in operational efficiencies and superior service to the member receiving a mortgage through the USAA originations organization.

Develops effective working relationships with fulfillment, underwriting, compliance, quality and business development units. Partners appropriately to ensure appropriate capacity/staffing and member service levels are maintained.

Ensures accuracy and adequacy of various management reports highlighting budget issues, pipeline management and/or other areas of opportunity.

Responsible for establishing and implementing strategy to attain goals and metrics for success.

Directs implementation of procedures, practices and policies in alignment with USAA core business objectives. Works closely with and reports directly to AVP of Real Estate Originations.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Originations and Real Estate Lending leadership teams.

Required:
Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Knowledge and understanding of first and second lien mortgage products and processes. Understanding of secondary marketing and third-party vendor management including outsourcing of processes.
10+ yrs mortgage originations management and/or relevant mortgage leadership experience including leadership of large mortgage originations teams.
Experience leading teams and individuals through business transformation and change management efforts. Experience managing work and influencing business outcomes in a matrix managed work environment.
Advanced knowledge of mortgage banking operations.
Knowledge of VA, FHA conventional loan programs, processing and closing procedures, and underwriting requirements.
Strong understanding of regulatory rules and requirements.

Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to comprehend and communicate guidelines, procedures, and products.
Experience in system/LOS implementations across multiple sites/teams for large scale operation.
