As the key departmental leader on a designated shift, by example, this position is responsible to lead staff to World Class excellence at every level. With approval from the Department Manager of Facility Services, the Shift Manager hires and fires. Responsible to motivate, counsel, and train all staff to have the cleanest, safest, and best prepared building in the NHL and North America, this position represents the department on all occasions and at every level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee Facility Services staff on a designated shift, and infrequently rotate to cover other shifts
- Ensures all operational and safety procedures are followed by all Crew Leaders and Teammates
- Make Hiring and Firing recommendations to the Department Manager
- Prior to each shift, conduct pre-shift meetings for the purpose of team building, motivation, safety, training, company and event information sharing, and to address group employee issues.
- Publicly Recognize and Reward excellent performance
- Train and coach employees in Housekeeping and Conversion “Best Practices.”
- Investigate, record, and report all accidents, safety violations, or employee discipline incidents
- Working with the department management team, help develop SOPs and techniques to increase efficiencies.
- Assist with department resource tracking and recordkeeping
- Assure the health, safety and security of co-workers and guests by following all safety procedures, rules, and OSHA standards
- Maintain a “Business Professional” appearance during work hours, and at all business related functions
- Represent the professionalism and expertise of the department by serving on committees or at functions supported by the larger organization, and not directly related to the position
- Establish and report at least two annual business related educational self-improvement goals
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a large diverse staff
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the sports and entertainment industry
- 3-5 years’ administrative support experience
- Proven leadership ability
- Effective written and oral communication skill
- Good time management and process thinking skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi task, meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
- Prior experience with ABI Mastermind highly desired
- Experience with Microsoft Suite Applications
- Willing to work hours and shifts including weekdays, weeknights, weekends and holidays
