As our Field Inspector for American Homes 4 Rent, your primary mission is to ensure that our tenants have a fantastic move-in experience. As such, a clean, polished, and professional presentation is absolutely essential, as is a friendly and outgoing personality. Your ability to clearly explain tenant responsibilities and company policies to new home renters with sincerity and warmth will be paramount. Similarly, your patient listening style, strong rapport-building skills, and meticulous follow-up abilities will create trust with our many client tenants. Your secondary mission is to conduct a final external inspection of newly vacated houses to make sure they are ready to be photographed and presented in an MLS listing to prospective renters. Your eye for detail and sense of aesthetics will be key as you ensure that, for example, the lawn is mowed, shrubs are trimmed, the home has not been vandalized, and no other obvious structural flaws are diminishing the “look” of the property. Reliable transportation and a clean driving record are mandatory as you will be visiting properties on a regular basis. We’ll rely on you to report conditions needing repair (i.e. loose downspouts, cracked windows, unraked leaves, etc.) when talking with our maintenance and inspection teams, who will coordinate repair efforts. You’ll also need the physical skills to hammer a “For Rent” sign into the front yard and will perform cleanings as necessary, a variety of minor home repairs, and property/occupancy inspections in this role. In the field, your solid computer skills will allow you to quickly come up to speed with Yardi and CRM, our property management software, so you can input property data into our systems for company-wide use.
