A brand-new Sleep Inn and Suites, Tampa FL is looking for an energetic, motivated team player to fill the General Manager role at this beautiful 77 unit Limited-Service hotel located near the MacDill Air Force Base and Downtown Tampa.

This is a hands-on hospitality management role in which you will have full responsibility for maintaining Sleep Inn™ and Choice Hotels Inc.’s high standards of excellence along with making sure that the business remains profitable and that the guests are delighted with their stay at the Sleep Inn and Suites, Tampa, Florida.

You will oversee all aspects of the hotel operations, including guest relations, front-desk, housekeeping, breakfast, laundry, maintenance, finances, teambuilding, and staff development. You will be responsible for all phases of hotel management, including sales and marketing, human resources, food and beverage inventory management, hotel supplies management. You are to inspire and empower associates to maintain rigorous quality, cleanliness and high standards of excellence.

Your specific duties in this role will include:

  • Responsibility for managing daily operations to ensure hotel is operating seamlessly
  • Responsibility for recruiting, interviewing, orienting, training, managing, and terminating all hotel staff as needed
  • Responsibility for revenue management
  • Develops, recommends, implements, and manages the hotel’s annual budget and long-term business plan. Achieves budgeted sales and maximum profitability.
  • Creates new programs in response to market conditions and revenue opportunities.
  • Responding to each guest inquiries, complaints, review and surveys in a timely manner
  • Resolving any guest concerns or complaints in a professional manner and comply with brand and company policies and procedures
  • Protects the hotel’s financial assets by properly administering policies and procedures for handling hotel supplies, cash, credit cards, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and all other financial transactions. Also, properly administers policies and procedures for protecting the safety of the guests and employees.
  • Creating employee schedule to ensure hotel is operating efficiently and effectively
  • Ensures regular assessment and review of all hotel staff
  • Coordinates internal training and development programs
  • Ensuring hotel’s performance meets or exceeds brand standards as well as company standards in all areas such as owner’s scorecard, guest scores, etc.
  • Ensuring the physical condition of the hotel is well maintained on a daily basis, including conducting curb-to-room property walks in order to identify and monitor repairs and/or housekeeping needs and assisting with preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring all guest rooms are clean and items are according to brand standards
  • Providing any documentation as needed by corporate office in a timely manner
  • Operating efficiently in all areas, such as guest satisfaction, employee productivity, financial performance, etc.
  • Ensuring all department heads are operating to maximize performance and productivity, while operating within hotel budget
  • Managing and maintaining vendor relationships
  • Ensuring that your assigned location is in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including OSHA, EEOC, Wage Hour, and Health laws
  • Maintains a high personal visibility throughout the property and throughout the community

Specific qualifications for the role include:

  • Full understanding of and experience with hotel operations and sales.
  • Availability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Working knowledge of various Microsoft Office applications, property management tool and social media.
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, work independently, and prioritize as needed
  • Strong sales and marketing abilities
  • Quality Assurance Inspections experience and/or a proven ability to motivate teams to perform QA inspections at the highest level of detail‪

Required education:

Minimum of two-year College (Associate degree) or equivalent, hospitality certification, or equivalent work experience

Required experience:

  • 1-2 years of hotel management and/or operations experience; 3+ years of hospitality experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and familiarity of local/greater Tampa Bay area
