Under the direction of the VP of Marketing and the Graphic Design Supervisor, the Graphic Designer assists in the planning, design, development and production of visual media for marketing and internal communications, and assists in establishing and maintaining professional standards for PMSI’s visual identity. The position acts as critical member of the marketing team, making proactive contributions and ensuring compliance of brand throughout the company.  The position requires the skills of a senior level designer with an extensive portfolio which exhibits both print and online projects, cutting-edge creativity, advanced technical skills and a clear understanding of new media.

Basic Functions:

  • Takes creative direction from the VP of Marketing and Graphic Design Supervisor and develops layouts and artwork for marketing communications materials including, but not limited to, collateral, proposals, presentations, exhibits and online materials, maintaining the corporate brand identity and creating design solutions with an impact.
  • Provides professional recommendations for and independently and collaboratively executes complete concepts, designs, art direction, production, print buying, and quality control.
  • Collaborates with the VP of Marketing and Graphic Design Supervisor in defining design criteria and developing concept/direction of art layouts, art direction and photography selection in a fast-paced, extremely busy environment.
  • Works with printers to establish and meet production deadlines.  Reviews match prints and does press checks as necessary.  Monitors and tracks production projects to ensure proper and timely completion.
  • Contributes to the editorial development of projects with cutting-edge design solutions that reinforce the brand messaging.
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date collateral files.

Job Qualifications:

Education

  • Required: Minimum two year college or trade school degree in digital graphic arts and design
  • Desired: BA degree in graphic design

Work Experience

  • Required: Five years of graphic design experience, knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of digital art, graphic design, layout and illustration; operation of up-to-date graphics software programs; principles and techniques of typesetting, printing, multi-media and photography; printing processes.
  • Desired:  Experience working in a mid-size corporate B2B marketing department.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • Required: Most recent version of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Quark and advanced Microsoft applications – willing and able to provide desktop publishing and design ability in Powerpoint and Word.
  • Desired: HTML, CSS and Flash software experience is a plus
