Hillsborough County is seeking a professional Division Director to provide strong leadership and guidance to the 270 Head Start division staff, plus an additional 370 staff contracted or employed by delegate agencies and partners.  The Division Director reports to the Director of Family & Aging Services Department and will oversee the 2013-2014 program budget of $36 million. In 2012, the program served 3,474 children (including 327 Early Head Start infants/toddlers and 24 pregnant women) in centers, classrooms and family child care homes all over 1,000 square mile Hillsborough County.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional administrative, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills and proven ability to provide strong leadership and direction for the program.  The selected candidate will be politically astute with an open management style that is collaborative, team-oriented, and inspires growth and employee development.  A leader who embraces diversity, transparency, and accountability is needed.  A take-charge visionary who is approachable, respected, credible, honest, and can build trust within the program and the community is imperative.  The successful candidate will have experience with budget management, contracts management, organizational development, and performance management, specifically related to program outcomes.

A Bachelor’s  degree in early childhood education, human services or a related education, management, administration or social science field is required; Master’s degree is preferred.  At least seven years of senior management experience in early childhood programming or the demonstrated equivalent is required.

The salary range is $80,000 – $120,000; starting salary for a well seasoned candidate is typically at midpoint.  Applicants must be able to obtain a Florida driver’s license, pass a level 2 criminal background check, pre-employment drug screening, and a physical health examination.
