This is a grant funded position performing professional work assisting in the development, implementation and accounting of comprehensive municipal housing development programs and related financing programs. Work requires the skilled use of a personal computer to compose, edit and revise correspondence, memoranda and reports; the ability to quickly learn departmental procedures, policies and practices used to carry out position responsibilities; multi-tasking skills; familiarity with housing related business processes; the ability to properly apply federal regulations and accounting practices related to housing and redevelopment programs and procedures; and excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. An employee in this position must be able to exercise considerable independent sound judgment serving internal and external customers, answering routine and in-depth questions and/or providing presentations regarding organizational programs; must assist with the development of plans and procedures for effective housing programs; and is expected to exercise a high degree of professional discretion in situations involving sensitive or confidential information.

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications.Applicants must:
  • Have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major course work in business administration, public administration, finance, accounting or a related field – or – relevant experience combined with education and training may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Be highly proficient in typing and the use of a personal computer, including the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Be able to compose complete, well-written correspondence and documents.
  • Be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, including presenting information, projects, proposals, ordinances and regulations to individuals, groups and organizations.
Desirable Qualifications.Preferred applicants:
  • Have some experience in housing and community development or a related field, preferably providing administrative support.
  • Have experience using Oracle eBusiness software.
  • Have some experience in financial analysis, especially related to housing and community development.
  • Have some knowledge of the rules, regulations and laws governing state, local and private housing.
  • Are able to efficiently and effectively multitask, responding to rapidly changing administrative, telephone and project demands.
  • Have experience in performing bookkeeping and using accounting principles.
  • Are able to perform detailed work involving written or numeric data and make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
